Cold Wax Paintings

Unlike Encaustic (hot wax) painting, Cold Wax paintings are created without the need to heat the medium. Water or a harmless solvent is used to disperse the wax pigment. Somewhere between my drawing and oil painting this medium of cold wax found it's way into my studio. The wax pigment colors do not recede like in an oil painting, they remain vibrant and up front. The process is enjoyable to work with, however you cannot get too detailed within an image as they are applied with a pigment stick.
